Allow any ice to thaw naturally – do not use sharp objects. Collect the meltwater in, for example, a roasting pan. Ensure that the drainage hole in your refrigerator is not blocked, as this can cause water to leak out and cause moisture damage to the floor.

For tips on how to defrost your freezer and keep your refrigerator clean, please see the video here.

Stove

Regularly clean the oven and stovetop plates or cooktop. Also clean behind the stove. If you have a cooktop, cookware made of cast iron, cast aluminum, or with damaged bottoms can scratch the surface if dragged across it. Remember not to use steel wool when cleaning.

Kitchen exhaust fan

Clean the grease filter in the kitchen exhaust fan regularly by washing it in lukewarm water with mild dish soap.

Cooking fat and oil

Never pour cooking fat or oil down the drain. Fat solidifies when cooled and can cause blockages in the pipes. Make it a habit to wipe out the frying pan with paper towels before rinsing it, then throw the paper in the food waste bag. If you use frying oil, for example, pour the used oil into a sealable container and dispose of it in the regular trash bag. Please see our instructional video here.

How to best care for your floors

Stop dirt at the apartment door with a proper doormat on the inside – sand and gravel can scratch the floor. Remove visible dirt frequently; vacuuming is normally sufficient.

Wipe up liquid spills immediately; stains should be removed before they dry. For more thorough cleaning, you may use a mild cleaning agent or hand dish soap. Use a well-wrung cloth or mop.

To protect the floors, use protective mats under rolling wheels and furniture pads to reduce scratches.

Wet areas

Avoid moisture and water damage by cleaning floors, walls, and ceilings with a damp cloth and never spray directly on surfaces with the shower hose. Try to remove standing water as quickly as possible after showering or bathing. Shower hoses must not be mounted on faucets on, for example, washbasins.

You must also never drill holes in the walls; instead use equipment that can be attached with suction cups.

Clean and clear the floor drain regularly, as hair, shampoo, and soap residue easily accumulate there and cause blockages. Please see our instructional video here.
Keep hair and lint away from the washbasin, as it can create blockages if rinsed down. The washbasin’s water trap needs to be regularly cleaned by you, and when reassembling it, it is important that it is properly sealed. Please view our instructional video here.

Keep ventilation openings clean to facilitate airflow and dehumidification of the wet room. Do not remove them, just clean them where they are positioned. Air vents in windows or under radiators should always be open for ventilation and heating in the apartment to function properly. Ventilate shower and bathrooms by opening doors or windows.

Your electrical installation

The landlord is responsible for the electrical installation and ensuring that all equipment included in it is safe. As a tenant, it is your responsibility to continuously monitor that the installation functions as it should and otherwise report it to the landlord. As a tenant, you must also ensure that the landlord can access the residence for inspection of the electrical installation. The electrical installation ends at the wall outlet, lamp outlet, or other fixed connection point; the tenant is responsible for what is connected to the electrical installation. Even if the landlord owns the electrical product, it is the tenant’s responsibility to ensure safe use of the product.

["post-14182","lagenhet","type-lagenhet","status-publish","hentry
["GET
