Neighbor Courage

To highlight our collaboration with Neighbor Courage, we are posting notices in common areas such as stairwells, laundry rooms, and recycling rooms.

Neighbor Courage is a non-profit organization aimed at preventing and stopping domestic violence by providing neighbors with tools to take action. It should be just as natural to call the police if you hear or are concerned that someone is being subjected to violence as it is to call the Disturbance Service when someone has turned up the volume too high at a party. Better to call once too many than once too few.

Neighbor Courage is essentially civil courage – daring to act when you’re worried someone in your building is being harmed. By showing care when you hear or see something that worries you, you can save lives and prevent violence. We don’t expect you to act as police but rather encourage you to act because you care and want to help others, whether it’s a child, teenager, or adult.

If you’re concerned about violence, we kindly ask you to:

1. Knock on your neighbor’s door.
2. If needed – get help from others! More neighbors can help create greater security.
3. Call the police. Always contact the police first in situations that feel acute or threatening.
