Swedish Tax Agency’s Position – VAT on Parking Spaces and Garages from October 1, 2026

Swedish Tax Agency’s Position – VAT on Parking Spaces and Garages from October 1, 2026

VAT on Parking Spaces and Garages – from October 1, 2026

The Swedish Tax Agency’s position is that VAT should be charged on the rental of parking spaces and garages that are rented separately from housing. This is not a regular rent increase, but a change made to ensure Sweden complies with EU VAT regulations.

What does this mean?

Starting October 1, 2026, a 25% VAT will be added to the rent for parking spaces and garages.

Example
If your parking space currently costs 150 SEK per month, the new rent will be 188 SEK including VAT.

To those who rent a parking space or garage from us – we will contact you! At this time, we have no further information to provide.
